After the First Harvest, Koppaja Holds Aloe Vera Product Development Training

Prabumulih – Koppaja (Panggul Jawa Youth Community) and Karang Taruna (Youth Organizations) Pangkul Jawa Village held training in making Aloe vera soap. This activity is a series of CSR programs guided by PT Perta Samtan Gas as an effort to develop the economy of the Pangkul Jawa Village Community as a center for Aloe vera cultivation.

Harry Maradona who is PT Perta Samtan Gas External Relations said “Pangkul Village is an Independent Proklim (Climate Village Program) Village, there is a lot of potential that can be developed to improve the economy and encourage community empowerment activities led by youth groups which is Koppaja and Karang Taruna, Aloe Vera is one of the potentials in Pangkul Village, that is why we conduct training how to develop Aloe Vera into a superior product from Pangkul Village”.

The training for soap making from Aloevera by Koppaja was held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (western Indonesian time) at the house of one of the Aloe vera farmers, Hamlet V, Pangkul Village, as interviewed by Desti Fajarini. Beside conducting training how to make handmade soap, he also provides counselling on skin health, beauty and cosmetic use.

As a resource person, Desti Fajarini conveyed to the participants about the health and beauty of the skin, as well as the ingredients needed for soap making, the properties of each ingredient, how to make soap, the benefits and effects of using soap which has various forms and properties.

Desti said “there is a difference between natural soap and soap in the market, namely the ingredients. Soaps that are widely used in the community contain chemicals that have many side effects. When compared to the market, natural soap prices are generally more expensive than soap containing chemicals in the market.

“In fact, if natural soap can be made by yourself for personal needs, it can save household expenses and can utilize Aloe vera to be processed into products of sale value. The ingredients for making natural soap are actually simple and can be found around us,” she said.

After the counselling session, participants were trained to make bar soap or solid handmade that were easy to practice with simple ingredients. After the training, the participants were given homework assignments to make their respective soap and submit their homemade soap creations at the next meeting.
